All players must sign and submit the tournament roster/waiver prior to playing.  Any team that has a player that has not signed the waiver cannot participate in the tournament.  Failure to comply will result in a team forfeit for each match played without a completed waiver.  No exceptions.

The games this year will follow USAV guidelines.  Certain rules have been modified for the Volleyball for Charity Tournament.  Please note the following Rules of Play:

  • Charity-Just for Fun Division: By the tournament guideline definition, this division is for teams wanting to play recreational volleyball with minimal spiking.  Please remember and respect this guideline.
  • Rally or speed scoring will be used for all sets.
  • Please refer below for pool play matches.
    • Pools of 3 will play 3 sets to 25 points, win by 2 with a 27 point cap. (60 minute time limit)
    • Pools of 4 will play 2 sets to 25 points, win by 2 with a 27 point cap. (45 minute time limit)
    • Pools of 5 will play 2 sets to 21 points, win by 2 with a 23 point cap. (45 minute time limit)
  • Pools where one team plays an additional game, that team’s best and worst point differentials will be excluded when calculating standings. This ensures consistency and fairness across all teams in the pool, despite the difference in number of games played. (It is a random pull for which team plays more games)
  • Standings will be determined by the win/loss record of each team.  Tiebreaking procedures will be ordered as follows: head to head between tied teams, point differential in all sets played, point differential between tied teams, coin flip. Notify tournament directors of inaccurate scores before the playoff brackets are set, brackets are final once they are completed.
  • All teams make the playoffs.
  • On a serve, a ball contacting and crossing the net within the legal boundaries of the court will be considered in play.
  • Players cannot touch the net at any time or cross the center line completely.
  • Legal contact is a touch of the ball by a player’s body which does not allow the ball to visibly come to rest, or prolonged contact with a player’s body.
  • Back row players must attack the ball behind the 10-Foot Line and are NOT allowed to block at the front row.
  • Teams are allowed 2 timeouts per set.  Timeouts are 30 seconds in length.
  • The decision of the referee is final!  Only team captains may speak to the referee.
  • This is a Co-Ed tournament.  A full team is comprised of six players on the court, typically three men and three women.  You must have at least five players on the court at all times.  Teams can have no more than three men on the court.  Teams can have up to six women on the court.  Teams unable to field at least five players by game time will forfeit that game.
  • Forfeit time is game time.
  • Serving order must alternate between male and female.  There will be no libero in this tournament.
