Tournament rules

All players must sign and submit the tournament roster/waiver prior to playing. Any team that has a player that has not signed the waiver cannot participate in the tournament. Failure to comply will result in a team forfeit for each match played without completed waiver. No exceptions.

The games this year will follow USAV guidelines. Certain rules have been modified for the Volleyball for Charity Tournament. Please note the following Rules of Play:

1. Charity-Just for Fun Division: By the tournament guideline definition, this division is for teams wanting to play recreational volleyball with minimal spiking. Please remember and respect this guideline.

2. Rally or speed scoring will be used for all sets.

3. Pools with 4 or 5 teams will play 2 sets to 25. Pools with 3 teams will play 3 sets to 25. All pool play sets are win by 2 with a 27 point cap and a 20 minute time limit. Cap and time limit are win by one point.

4. Standings will be determined by the win/loss record of each team. Tiebreaking procedures will be ordered as follows: head to head between tied teams, point differential in all sets played, point differential between tied teams, coin flip.

5. All teams make the playoffs.

6. On a serve, a ball contacting and crossing the net within the legal boundaries of the court will be considered in play.

7. Players cannot touch the net at any time or completely cross the center line.

8. Legal contact is a touch of the ball by a player’s body which does not allow the ball to visibly come to rest, or prolonged contact with a player’s body.

9. When only one male player is in the front row at service, one male back-row player may be forward of the attack line for the purpose of blocking. The remaining back-row player must be behind the attack line until the ball has been contacted by the blocker(s) or has been hit in such a manner that no block is possible. If a back-row player is not participating in a block, there is no restriction on both backrow male players being in the attack zone.

10. Teams are allowed 2 timeouts per set. Timeouts are 30 seconds in length.

11. The decision of the referee is final! Only team captains may speak to the referee.

12. This is a Co-Ed tournament. A full team is comprised of six players on the court, typically three men and three women. You must have at least five players on the court at all times. Teams can have no more than three men on the court at all times. Teams can have up to six women on the court at all times. Teams unable to field at least five players by game time will forfeit that game.

13. Forfeit time is game time.

14. Serving order must alternate between male and female. There will be no libero in this tournament.
